B2B gifting statistics 2026: the numbers that survived fact-checking

The corporate gifting industry runs on recycled statistics — some real, some folklore. We traced every number to its source and kept only what checked out: market size, response rates, attention data, holiday timing, and the stats we refused to repeat.

The gifting industry runs on recycled statistics, and many don't survive a trip to their source. Before writing this, we traced every number we could find to a primary citation and threw out the folklore. What follows is what checked out — market size, effectiveness, attention economics, and holiday timing — each with the study behind it, plus a short list of famous numbers we refused to repeat.

Numbers we refused to repeat

  • "People retain 95% of a video message vs 10% of text." Traces to a decades-old claim with no verifiable study behind it. Video works; this number is folklore.
  • "40% of corporate gifts are bought in Q4." Plausible, but it only appears on statistics aggregators with no named primary source.
  • "Direct mail plus digital lifts sales 447%." Recycled for a decade; the original methodology is nowhere to be found.

If a gifting vendor quotes you a number, ask for the study. And if you want engagement numbers nobody has to take on faith — watch time, locations, pass-around, per box, for your own sends — that's the product we build.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the corporate gifting market?

Coresight Research projected the US corporate gifting market growing from $242 billion to $312 billion by 2025 (6.5% CAGR) — the most-cited independent estimate. Global industry estimates put 2025 around $900 billion, but those trace to paid market-research aggregates and should be labeled as industry estimates rather than measured fact.

Do business gifts actually influence deals?

The best available data says yes with caveats: in Sendoso's survey of 150 B2B decision-makers, 79% said a gift influenced their decision to take a meeting, and 83% said it made the vendor seem more thoughtful than competitors. It's vendor-run research — but it surveys recipients, not senders, which makes it the most useful number in the category.

How much should a B2B gift cost?

Postal's 2025 platform data shows the expectation gap: recipients expect roughly $100 while median actual spend is about $30 — and acceptance rates rise with value (81% under $25 vs 90% over $75). The data argues for fewer, better gifts over more, cheaper ones.
