Redeem links: let recipients enter their own address

Send a link instead of a box. The recipient types their own shipping address, and only then does a box leave inventory.

Most teams have an email address for their whole target list and a verified mailing address for a small fraction of it. A redeem link closes that gap. Instead of shipping a box to an address you are guessing at, you send a personal link; the recipient opens it, confirms who they are, and enters where they want the box delivered. Nothing is pulled from inventory until they do.

The click is also a signal. Someone who types their address to receive your outreach has raised their hand harder than any email open — and you learn that before a box has cost you anything.

Fixed vs choice mode

  • Fixed — you pick the box when you create the link set. The recipient only confirms their name and enters an address. Fewer decisions for them, so it converts best; use it for one-to-one outreach.
  • Choice — you pick two or more boxes and the recipient chooses one on the page. Reads as more premium and suits gifting or events. Every box on a choice link has to be active and in stock.

Creating a link set

1
Open Redeem links and click New redeem link
Give it a name, pick fixed or choice mode, and choose the box or boxes. Optionally set the sender name recipients will see — it defaults to your workspace name.
2
Set a maximum number of redemptions
This caps how many boxes the whole link set can pull from inventory. Once the cap is reached, any remaining links show as closed instead of creating a send. Leaving it blank means uncapped, which is fine for a handful of named prospects and risky for a list — a redeem link is a direct draw on your stock.
3
Add recipients
Paste email addresses one per line — an email alone is enough, and you can include first name, last name and company to prefill the page. Each recipient gets their own private link. Adding the same email to the same link set twice is ignored rather than minting a second link.
4
Send the links
Click Email next to a recipient, or Email unsent links to send everyone who has not been emailed yet. The email is a short note from the sender name with their link and its expiry date, and replies go to you. You can also copy links and send them from your own inbox — a one-to-one email from a real person tends to out-open anything sent by a platform.

What happens when a recipient submits

The address they typed is validated the same way every other address in Boxli is. If it cannot be delivered to, they are asked to check it and try again — nothing ships to a bad address. If it is deliverable, a send is created against the campaign behind the link set, one box comes out of inventory, the contact record is created or updated with the new address, and everyone in your workspace gets a Box claimed notification. The send then behaves like any other: it appears on the Sends page, ships through fulfillment, and reports engagement.

Anything the recipient adds in the optional note field — a gate code, a floor, a dietary restriction — goes to fulfillment as a packing note. It is not printed on the card in the box.

A link is single-use. Opening it again after submitting shows that the box is already on its way; it will never create a second send. A recipient can also decline, which marks them as declined and never ships anything.

Tracking the funnel

Each link set shows how many people were invited, opened their link, claimed a box, declined, or let the link expire. Opens are counted from the first time a recipient loads the page, so a link that was opened and then expired still counts as opened.

Expiry

Every link expires 30 days after it is created by default (the window is set per link set, from 1 to 365 days). An expired link shows the recipient a message asking them to reply to whoever sent it, and it moves to Expired in the funnel. Expiry never touches someone who already claimed or declined. To re-invite someone after their link expired, add them to a new link set.

Note
A redeem link is a private credential for one person — treat it like a password. The page is kept out of search engines, and the link only ever exists in that person’s email and on your recipients page. If a link is forwarded to the wrong person, the maximum redemptions cap is what limits the damage.
