Alert rules reference

Every trigger, action, and frequency an alert rule can use, and where rules live.

An alert rule watches for a recipient engagement event and fires an action when it happens. Workspace-default rules live on the Notifications page and apply everywhere; you can also add rules scoped to a single campaign (in its Automations panel) or to a single send.

Triggers

  • First engagement — the recipient opens or scans the brochure for the very first time.
  • First watch — they start watching the video brochure for the first time.
  • Watched N minutes — they watch at least a set number of minutes in one session.
  • Watched to the end — they watch at least a set percentage of the video.
  • Lingered on the landing page — they spend at least a set number of minutes on the landing page after scanning.
  • Box was passed around — the brochure physically moves beyond a set distance, a sign it got shared.
  • Box has traveled — the brochure has traveled at least a set distance overall.
  • Came back — they engage again after a gap of at least a set number of days.
  • Brochure battery low — the device battery drops below a set level and may stop reporting soon.

Actions

  • Notify Slack — post a rich engagement card to your connected Slack.
  • Email the team — email the assigned rep, or workspace admins if no rep is assigned.
  • Log a HubSpot note — write the engagement onto the contact’s HubSpot timeline.
  • Call a webhook — POST the engagement payload to any endpoint.
  • Create an in-app task — drop a task for the assigned rep inside Boxli.

Frequency

Each rule sets how often it may fire for the same contact: only the first time, at most once a day (the default), after a week of quiet, or every time. Frequency is per contact, so a busy account cannot drown out everyone else.

1
Pick where the rule lives
Notifications page for a workspace default, or a campaign’s Automations panel for a campaign-specific rule.
2
Choose a trigger and set its threshold
Most triggers have one number to tune — minutes watched, percentage, distance, or days.
3
Choose an action and a frequency
Slack and HubSpot actions need those integrations connected first.
