Every engagement signal

The full vocabulary of events a box can report, from lid opens to location pings.

A Boxli box reports more than scans. Here is every signal in the vocabulary and what each one means:

  • Open — the box lid was opened. The brochure wakes and the video starts.
  • Watch session — a play of your video, reported with its duration. These sessions are what watch counts and watch time are built from.
  • QR scan — a printed QR code in the box was scanned. Counts as an engagement.
  • NFC tap — the NFC chip was tapped with a phone. Also an engagement.
  • Landing page visit and dwell — after a scan or tap, the Insight Tag reports the visit and the seconds spent on your page. Dwell rolls into Total Attention.
  • Location ping — the brochure reports where it is over its cellular connection. These pings power the engagement map.
  • Battery level — the brochure reports its charge, so a low battery can raise an alert before the screen goes dark.

Two derived signals are computed from the above. Pass-around: the same box seen in two or more places — strong evidence it was handed to someone else, which is exactly what you want a box to do. Travel distance: the distance between a box’s location pings, so “box has traveled” alerts can fire when one crosses a threshold you set.

Every signal attributes to its send, feeds the analytics surfaces, and can drive alert rules — so any event in this list can become a Slack ping the moment it happens.
